Door Switches are the backbone of every Intrusion Alarm System. Their primary function is to protect the perimeter doors, where most intrusions take place. Placing sufficient door switches also means that you will be able to arm your perimeter, while still being able to move about freely in your house-- to maximize your systems benefits. There are several different types of door switches, in two main categories of "Recessed Switches" and "Surface Mount/Overhead Switches". The categories are exactly what they imply. Door switches can also be set to an "entry/exit" zone, which means that when it goes into alarm, you have a pre-designated amount of time to disarm the system or exit the premise before the panel goes into alarm. Although we have many different switches that we use for every imaginable application, below is a demonstration of two of our most commonly used door switches, the rare earth magnet N20RS-twg, which is a recessed door contact; and an OHD switch.
Using this device, the switch itself is mounted inside the doorframe, flush with the wood. it comes in several different colors, so that it will coordinate seamlessly with your decor. The magnet is then installed in the top of the door, so that when your door opens, the circuit is broken; the device is in alarm.
