Along with Door Contacts, Motion Detectors are the backbone of any good intrusion alarm system. There Are Several things to consider when choosing a motion detector, from what kind of technology it uses to detect movement, to what kind of environment it is rated for. Some things to consider when selecting a motion detector:
The Optex "Op" motion detectors we use are possibly the favorite among our customers. They have proven to use to perform excellently in both functionality and reliability. The op-rx40 has a 60lb pet immunity and uses infrared technology. The op-mx40 uses a combination of microwave and infrared technology, and is rated for up to 100lb pet immunity. It's always a tough job to try and put motion detectors outside, because of all of the different variables that are impossible to control; However, there are still options available. The Piramid XL2 is a good example of how innovative technology can provide solutions in the toughest circumstances.
